Tilga, I was simply explaining to Kurt why it would be so bad if Jesus was not what Christianity has taught us. I dont care about the theologians who say otherwise, or the nonChristians that have their own ideas. Also, I was trying to point out that it is the Christians who solely get this treatment. Again, why do I have to be told to reflect on the what ifs but guys like Kurt are immune to this supposed obligatory introspective? Everyone else is entitled to their anger when someone supposes that (insert other religion or worldview that is not conservative here) is total crap and baseless. But fundamental Christians, or knuckle draggers to Liberals, must be the ones to think. This is because obviously, if someone had the intellectual capacity to do so they would arrive at the same place as Kurt with only a little more thought. So they think, anyway.
News flash Kurt, I am a Mechanical Engineer, 138 IQ, Deans List nominee in school. I am not the smartest person you will ever talk to, likely, but I am not stupid. My mind is plenty open, I dare say at least as open as yours. We each have things we will not tolerate that are contrary to our own views. Give the fundamentalist a break, especially since you admit you dont know about Jesus or God, then those who like to think they have a handle on it just might. Is your mind open enough to consider that possibility?

also, let someone else say my religion is a sham and that Jesus did not die on the cross. so what?
that doesn't make me any less. that doesn't change MY beliefs.
i believe that as long as i honestly repent for the wrong i have done and as long as i admit to believing in God, i am a saved soul.
i don't care if everyone else in this world can come up with some form of scientific reasoning or whatever for why i am wrong and i don't mind if i stand alone in my beliefs alot of the time.
i have seen too much evidence of God in my life. i know what He has done for me and some hollywood flick based on some random novel is not going to change that.
again, i know what i believe & i know what MY simple Truths are... who cares what a fictional movie/book says? i don't even care what some scientific theory says. i believe what i believe.
and, yes. i can understand the theory of evolution. who's to say that God didn't put that into action??
sorry.. i just read the rest of the below poster's comments and had to continue.
i just don't understand why some folks would let a movie or book sway their beliefs.
i was told many moons ago by my preacher that if you question your beliefs, you are often made stronger in them.
questions are healthy and good. blindly following is not so good.
but - if someone just doesn't want to see this movie cuz they think it will be crap.. fine! who cares?

regarding your post about The DaVinci Code and all that..
i'm a christian. i've been a christian since long before my parents even mentioned church to me. i was born a christian. however, i was not reared in a church. my beliefs come from my studies and the majority of my beliefs come from my personal life experiences. i do attend church at a Church of God (interdenominational). most of my church buddies and coworkers who are christian are very up in arms about the DaVinci Code. i, however, have been saying all along that it is strictly FICTION. i'm not boycotting Over the Hedge b/c it might teach kids to falsely believe that squirrels and other critters can talk and act as humans do, so why would i boycot this work of fiction? sure, it's a bit sacrelige and maybe a bit blasphemous, but it is still fiction. and it may even be someone else's actual theory/belief of things that happened.
i used to hang out with a bunch of theologians and they often discussed the possible ties between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. this is not a new concept to me.
then again, i'm not the 'typical' christian. i actually do back-slide a bit and sin occasionally. and i admit it when i'm doing it.
so, i may not know all the 'rules' as they are taught in church, but i know the rules that are in my heart.
and i wouldn't mind seeing the DaVinci Code.

You know, I dont mind you constantly clobbering Christians as long as you are an equal opportunity asshole. Why not give the Muslims a little too? Oh, they would probably kill you. Or how about the Buddhists? Oh yeah, some Shaolin monk would kill you. I guess Christians are an easy target, so why not.
And while we are at it, why are the conservative Christians the only ones who need to think? How many ACLU members went and saw the Passion? How many Brady Center weirdos go to NRA meetings just to see what they are about? I have a perfect right not to want to pay to see DaVinci Code. It does not mean my world is crumbling, it means I already got duped into seeing V for Vendetta this year and I am still pissed I wasted 20 bucks and my entire evening.
And to answer your question, the reason it would be so bad that Jesus did not die on the cross and got married is it would mean the whole religion is a sham. Jesus did not come here to say some nice things that Liberals could construe to mean they can be unscrupulous, promiscuous, heathen, craven, base idiots. He came to die for our sins, fulfill the prophesies of His coming and open the Gates of Heaven so that the rest of us might have a chance to get there. If He got married and ran off, the Gates are still closed, and that is bad, to say the least. If you are having trouble believing all that, fine. Watch the movie, have fun. You can think about it. Its a free country. I am just as free not to watch, as I am free not to read your comic. I come here for some laughs. I come here during work when things at my job suck the most, I come to see something to pick me up. I am not interested in your political views any more than you are interested in mine. But when I started reading this string I did not think that is what you were selling.
Was I wrong?

Not sure where you to post this, but going to post it here. I didn't see anything regarding the actual text of the legislation of HR 5252 ("COPE"). I think that kind of thing can be very helpful if you're really trying to promote a cause and get the average joe schmoe that doesn't even realize we have a government off his duff long enough to care about something. Yes, I realize that's horrible sentence structure. =P Regardless, the following PDF is the direct link for the legislation:

Hey there,
I just recently discovered your work and I want to respond to your 5/9/06 blog. You do great work, you are funny & creative & you took a simple artistic vehicle and made a whole little world out of it. People are going to nitpick, critique and generally be pissy on occasion-whether you're in the spotlight or not. You are just easier to go after when you are out there where you can be noticed. But there is a quiet majority that just sits quietly and smiles at the entertainment you add in their day. Keep up the good work.
Kat J, Fan
Annnnd by the way...I think you are damn cute, so screw those size nazis. ;)

Did you get the claw cover things for the real Scratch? I refuse to declaw our newest cat (who might as well be called Scratch given his fondness for tearing up our furniture) and wondered if the Lee Press-on claws might work instead. Love the Scratch Fury strips, by the way!
Mark as Spam50181 : 04/11/2006 6:45 PM
I gotta tell ya, that strip you posted today made me 'LOL' to no end.
